1936 New York Yankees Baseball w/Lou Gehrig Sweet Spot

1936 New York Yankees Baseball w/Lou Gehrig Sweet Spot

Interesting baseball gifted to our consignor by his grandfather in 1989. This beautiful signed baseball was originally used as payment for driving a passenger (Mrs. Spink) from Denver to her home in St. Louis in 1936. Mr. and Mrs. Spink were very successful, owned a electrical supply business and often entertained baseball owners and players at their home in St. Louis. The payment that was finally agreed upon for the long distance drive was this exquisite Official American League (Harridge) baseball with 17 signatures including Lou Gehrig (7/10) on the sweet spot. Other signatures are a little light but do include a rookie Joe DiMaggio as well as Tony Lazerri; Joe McCarthy and Pat Malone are both clubhouse versions. Ball presents in VG condition and comes with original box (some tears noticed). Comes with copy of letter from grandfather explaining the remarkable story.
