1937 All Star Game-Used Signed Baseball

1937 All Star Game-Used Signed Baseball

The American League triumphed with an 8-3 win in the 1937 All Star Game. But, ultimately, the biggest news was a third inning line drive that struck starting pitcher Dizzy Dean in the toe, breaking it. In the coming weeks, the Cardinal management decided to return Dean to the lineup before the injury was fully healed, and his delivery was affected. Eventually, his arm was injured, and a great career was cut short at age 26. This game-used baseball has "The Infield Ball / All-Star Game / Wash. DC - July 7th '37" hand-printed in black ink, and is signed by 22 National League players, including the immortal Mel Ott, Arky Vaughan, Frank Frisch, Paul Waner, Carl Hubbell and Ernie Lombardi. A few others have been nicely gone over: Medwick, Mize and Martin. Signs of game wear are very evident, with the signatures ranging from 4 to 8, with the ball in overall VGEX condition.
