On November 2nd, 1937, the Forum in Montreal hosted a match between the stars of the maroons and Habs pitted against those of the remaining NHL clubs in benefit of the family of the late Howie Morenz. This panoramic photograph captures the somber pre-game ceremonies as both benches along with the filled-to-capacity crowd stand in silent tribute to their fallen hero. Handwritten fountain pen title "Morenz Benefit" with added "Rice Photo", also in ink. In original ornate wood frame. Some toning and crazing in areas not affecting the central image.
