1939 NY Yankees Mini Panorama

1939 NY Yankees Mini Panorama

The ‘39 Yankees won the pennant with a superb 106 - 45 season, and then swept the Cards in the World Series. An adequate pitching staff, led by 21-game winner Red Ruffing, contained the opposition while the quick bats did their work. Though not an overpowering long-ball club, the team had eight batters with .300 or greater averages, Joe DiMaggio with .381, Charlie Keller, Tommy Henrich... even Red Ruffing, with 114 at bats, a .307 hitter. This very special photograph includes both Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio, and is best dated by the 1939 Centennial patches on the uniform sleeves. Very sharp and with great contrast, the photo measures 8” x 4”. “The Evening Bulletin” is stamped on the reverse, and a portion of newsprint reveals the published copy. Condition is NRMT.
