1940's Satchel Paige Game Worn Fielder's Glove
The ball and glove were reportedly originally obtained from a gentleman who used to shine Satchel's shoes. As the story goes, Satchel was playing at Wrigley Field, and he needed the webbing of his glove repaired. A shoe repair man offered to repair it for free. Satchel gave him the signed ball as a token of appreciation. Satchel and the man became friends, and Paige later gave the man the glove that he repaired. Brown leather mitt has "Rawlings G 500" stamped into the heel and "professional Model, George Case, Floating Weel" stamped on the little finger pad. There is a red/back "Rawlings, St. Louis" tag on the wrist strap and a brass "Rawlings Special Official League". Baseball is signed on a side panel in 6.5/10 green ink.
