1940 N.Y. Yankees Team Signed Baseball

1940 N.Y. Yankees Team Signed Baseball

Super ball from the Yankees' "out year" -- the one year from 1936 to 1943 that they didn't win the pennant (and the WS all but once). In this case, failure -- a 3rd place -- makes the ball a winner in the historical sense. And what Yankee ball collector would shrug off a ball with Joe D on the sweet spot? American League Ball has approx. 26 signatures in all, and though some are faded almost all are legible, including Ruffing -- on the other SS above the monumentally rare handwritten notation "From all the Yanks" -- Gomez, Dickey, Rolfe, Gordon, Keller, Powell, Chandler, Selkirk, Hadley, Jurgens, Sundra, etc. Sigs average 5-7, but are mostly good 7's. Ball is evenly browned and VG with nice strong stampings and snare drum-tight laces. You won't find a signed ball from this golden Yankee era at a better price. Period.
