1940s All American Girls Professional Baseball League Collection From the "Babe Ruth Of The AAGPBL" (74 pieces)

1940s All American Girls Professional Baseball League Collection From the "Babe Ruth Of The AAGPBL" (74 pieces)

This awesome archive came from Eleanor Callow, the "Babe Ruth" of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. One of the most feared sluggers, she was a four-time All-Star, accumulating more home runs and triples than any other player in league history. A rare combination of power, patience at the plate and fielding in a multi-skilled package, she also overwhelmed the competition with her dynamic speed. Many of these items are from the first year of the Peoria Redwings in the AAGPBL, 1946. One photo is inscribed "To Eleanor" and only a player would have this level of access, she was the only Eleanor on the 1946 Redwings. The total of 74 pieces includes photos, autographs and more: 1) 1946 Peoria Redwings real photo postcard, it has a scrapbook back (no paper loss, just glue on top) otherwise unposted NRMT, first we have seen, from Callow's rookie season. 2-3) Unusual 3x2" vintage "plastic" photo is unlike anything we have seen, looks like it could be made into a novelty of sorts. It came with a matching 3x2" printed handwritten poem/team song on a cardboard 3x2" card. Both are quite interesting and never before seen. 4-54) Vintage Peoria Redwings snapshot photos are 2.5x3.5". There are four signed, 21 unsigned and a group of 26 signed with water damage (two are signed), for a total of 51. 55-61) Seven Peoria Redwings vintage snapshot photos, great one-of-a-kind poses. 62-72) Eleven vintage signed Peoria Redwings photos; Joyce Hill, Dodie Wilson, Jerrie Denoble, Mary & Mildred Barley, Mildred Baker, Ann Hartnett, Dottie Mueller, Joe Kabick, Shirley Smith and the greatest nickname of all: “SLITZ” Meyer, measures 4.5x4". 73-74) Rockford Peaches pair of rare blank-backed “Booster” labels, each is 6.5" tall and NRMT, and Callow was a member of this team as well.
