1940s Detroit Stars Negro League Uniform
Here's a rare and glorious relic during a house clean-out in Detroit a couple of years ago. It was stored in the attic of a home that once belonged to the Detroit Stars manager, V.L. Wilson. The off-white jersey has maroon lettering across the front, spelling "DETROIT." On the back, in the same color felt, is "STARS" at the top and number 1 below. Empire and Pepperell Fabrics tags are in the collar. The flag tag with the size is washed out. All-original with maroon and grey piping. Matching pants are off-white and have same maroon and grey piping. There is great use, with dirt and possibly blood stains in evidence. During our 30+ years we have acquired only a handful Negro League jerseys, and this one is an exceptional example of a bygone era.
