1941 Babe Ruth New York State Income Tax Return
<p>On this 1941 unsigned four-page return copy (8.5x11"), Ruth's famed address is listed: 173 Riverside Dr., New York, New York. Ruth lists his "Battle Axe" mother-in-law as a dependent. Ruth's total income for the year was $8,096.87, quite a comedown from his years as a player. The Babe also deducted $1,133.60 as "Baseballs Photographs and other items necessary for advertising." This deduction was later disallowed by the IRS and the State, but Ruth fought it and won.
