1942 "Pride of the Yankees" French Movie Poster
Spectacular graphics on this huge framed movie poster (50x66") advertising the film "Pride of the Yankees." The film was released in America in 1942, this is from the original French release around the same time. Winning the Oscar for Film Editing, it was nominated for 10 more awards, including Gary Cooper for Best Actor and Best Picture. Released the year after Lou passed away, it starred Yankee teammates Babe Ruth, Bob Meusel, Mark Koenig and Bill Dickey playing themselves, as well as sportscaster Bill Stern. Parallels the two collecting categories of baseball and movie memorabilia. Beautiful condition. Powerful image of Coop as Lou Gehrig the Iron Horse, is cheered by this vast Yankee Stadium crows while wife Eleanor (Teresa Wright) swoons.
