1943 Satchel Paige Day Program
Offered here is the only known surviving scorecard from the July 18, 1943 game at Chicago's Wrigley Field, an amazing copy of Satchel Paige in Kansas City Monarchs glory. Game reflects an unscored doubleheader between the Birmingham Black Barons vs. Cincinnati Clowns, and the New York Cubans vs. Satchel's Memphis Red Sox. Not in the greatest shape with a couple of repaired tears, folded, some creasing, staple holes and a light water stain on the cover, but surviving Negro League material is rarely in great condition. A literal Who's Who of the Negro League in one unassuming 1943 scorecard. The scorecard contains images on the verso of Neil Robinson "Home Run King," Rogelio "Ice Cream" Linares, "Ace Pitcher" Johnny Markham, and Clowns Manager Fred Wilson. Also has great patriotic graphics with war bond stumping.
