1945-47 New York Yankees Voting Rights Book with One Certificate
Amazing and unique piece of history in this booklet which once contained 50 Voting Trust Certificates for the New York Yankees spanning from 1945-47. Hard cover book measures 13x11" and the certificates were perforated pages designed to leave a stub, much like old-style checkbooks. Inside is taped a typewritten letter titled, "Termination of Voting Trust Agreement Dated as of February 21, 1945," with text below indicating that the termination was official on October 18, 1947. All but the last of the 50 numbered certificates have been removed, but the stubs remain, with most standing blank and only the first few indicating distribution of shares. Among the signatures on the typed letter and recipients written on stubs was Larry MacPhail, who was part owner of the team during this period and whose son, Lee MacPhail went on to make quite a name in both the Yankees' and the baseball world in general. Book shows age, in VG condition, and the one remaining certificate has some toning at the edges but the print remains bold and clear. Sticker on cover has typewritten, "American League Baseball Club of N.Y. Voting Trust Certificates."
