1947-66 Exhibits Complete Set of (340) Cards Including Variations
The 1947-66 Exhibits, manufactured and distributed by the Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago, Illinois, consists of more then 330 cards. Distributed over the course of several decades, the postcard sized black-and-white heavy, cardboard stock cards are unnumbered with blank backs. During the lengthy time of distribution, many players have multiple cards (indicating change of team) while other players may only have one or two produced, creating different levels of scarcity within the set as a whole. Each card features a black-and-white action or portrait photograph with the player’s name written in script, emulating the player’s signature, near the bottom of each in white or black. With all that said, this lot was a huge undertaking by our consignor, and we are delighted to offer a complete 340 cards set with scarce variations for Yogi Berra, Larry Doby, Bobby Doerr, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Harmon Killebrew, Ted Kluszewski and Gil McDougald plus all FOUR Mickey Mantle variations including the scarce portrait; the cards for Bob Lemon and Roy Sievers have original autographs. Only card missing from the "checklist" is the 1954 New York Giants team card with the postcard reverse.
