1948 "The Babe Ruth Story" First Edition Signed by Babe Ruth (JSA)
First edition of The Babe Ruth Story (E. P. Dutton & Co., New York, 1948) by Babe Ruth (as told to Bob Considine), signed by Ruth on the front flyleaf. Ruth's signature has been boldly scripted in blue fountain pen and grades a strong 9/10. This book was published just a few months prior to Ruth's death on August 16th. Ruth was very ill at the time and most of his autograph requests at the time were fulfilled by both his wife and secretary. Copies of his autobiography, however, were the exception to that practice, and most signed examples in the hobby today originate from either personal friends or important business associates of Ruth. The hardbound book remains in Excellent condition and is complete with its original dustjacket (Fair, with tears and staining). A signed copy of The Babe Ruth Story is a requisite for any advanced Babe Ruth collection and the offered copy represents a fine example with an outstanding Ruth signature. Full LOA from JSA.
