1950's Puerto Rican League Team Signed Baseballs (12)
Connoisseurs of Caribbean beisbol will have a ball -- several actually -- with this collection of team-signed Puerto Rican League baseballs. Prominent signatures in the group include: Bob Gibson, Orlando Cepeda, Tony Perez, Willard Brown, Perucho Cepeda, Tony Alomar, Pepe Lucas, Victor Pellot, Orlando Pena, Bud Clarkson, Ken Astromonte, Luis Munoz, Jose Morales, Frank Robinson, Ruben Gomez and Felix Maldonado, with many of the important clubs of the era represented (Santurce, Aguadilla, etc.). Most balls are Official Puerto Rican League and show various amounts of toning and surface wear - quite possibly from game use. The blue and black ink autographs rate an average of 8 out of 10, with the large majority remaining bold and legible. Team-signed baseballs from the Puerto Rican League of this time period are far scarcer than their American and National league counterparts.
