1950 Marumatsu Bromide Card Prize Sheet w/Victor Starffin
Uncatalogued Marumatsu prize sheet is from Central & Pacific Leagues of Japan. Utilizing 25 bromide cards from the great days of Japanese baseball, there are many HOFers including the great Russian Victor Starffin. The cards on this display sheet have not been previously catalogued, and it is not known what cards comprise the regular set with which this prize sheet is associated. Nearly all cards in this lot have never been seen before, including a third prize card of Victor Starffin (HOF) (Russia). The three, giant sized, first prize color cards depict (left to right) Kaoru Betto (HOF), Takehiko Bessho (HOF) and Makoto Kozuru (HOF). The second prize cards feature (left to right) Hiroshi Oshita (HOF), Juzo Sanada (HOF), Fumio Fujimura (HOF) and Noboru Aota (HOF). Third prize cards include Hall of Fame members Victor Starffin, Hiroshi Oshita, Atsushi Aramaki (rookie), Tetsuharu Kawakami, Michio Nishizawa, Tokuji Iida, Kaoru Betto, Fumio Fujimura, Hideo Fujimoto and Makoto Kozuru. As is traditional with display sheets, the first prize cards are not attached to the display. The second and third prize cards are attached to the sheet with a dab of glue. All cards are blank backed. The writing at the top says "Central Pacific Pro Baseball." The three large cards are the top prize cards that would be at the top of the display.
