1953 Johnny Wright Negro League Baseball Original Art - The Man Who Was Almost Jackie Robinson

1953 Johnny Wright Negro League Baseball Original Art - The Man Who Was Almost Jackie Robinson

An outstanding pen & ink shows Negro League baseball great Johnny Wright playing for Torreon of the Mexican League. This was from when Wright was playing in Mexico; one of the true greats of the Negro Leagues, he was a candidate to break the color barrier, as he shared the Montreal Royals roster with Jackie Robinson in 1946. Things for the pitcher did not quite go his way and instead Jackie made history. Measuring 9.25x7.75", this pen & ink is deftly drawn by famed Mexican artist A. Reyna A.
