1955 Mickey Cochrane Hall of Fame Clock

1955 Mickey Cochrane Hall of Fame Clock

Eighteen years after he was nearly killed at Yankee Stadium's home plate, the Bronx Bombers honored the catching legend at nearly the same spot prior to a 1955 game in the Bronx, bestowing upon him this beautiful Elliott mantle clock. A plaque on top reads: "Honoring New Members Hall of Fame Yankee Stadium 1955 Mickey Cochrane." The handsome, 5" x 6.5" timepiece is in EX condition and is still in running order. While batting for the Tigers in 1937 - the final year of his playing career - the player/manager was beaned in the head by a Bump Hadley fastball, fracturing his skull in three places and landing Cochrane in the hospital. The Yanks made up for that in 1955 with their ceremony eight years after Cochrane's Cooperstown induction.
