1955 Tokyo Giants Japanese World Series Award
This piece is an exquisite presentation vase produced for the 1955 Japan (World) Series. Coincidentally, the vase appears to be made of Nippon or something similar. It is porcelain and hand-painted with over-glaze and marvelous birds-on-tree design on one side. The other reads: "Tokyo Yomiuri Giants Championship Memorial 1955 Japan Series." The oldest team, known as the "New York Yankees of Japan," was named as such by Lefty O'Doul. There's a silver metallic rim on both the top and bottom. Comes in its original slotted wood box with sliding top imprinted with text referring to the vase inside as a great "treasure." It is NRMT and of exceptional quality, better than anything MLB ever gave.
