1956 Brooklyn Dodgers & Negro League All-Star Barnstorming Jersey
Originally, this was used as a 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers jersey worn by Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer Bill Harris in spring training (his name is on the 1956 spring roster). His name "Harris" is embroidered in the jersey along with the 1956 flag tag. The jersey was then passed down and used as a Negro League barnstorming jersey. Based on the fact that it was a Brooklyn Dodgers shirt, it was likely one of the Brooklyn player teams - Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella and Don Newcombe had "All Star" barnstorming teams in the 1950s. For this purpose, the scripted "Dodgers" across the front was changed to "Stars." The shirt was worn by former New York Cuban Pee Wee Jenkins and comes with a photo of Jenkins holding up the jersey. It also comes with the original red and blue leggings that appear to be Negro League rather than Brooklyn Dodgers based on the provenance and color.
