1965 The Watts Riots (67)

The Watts Riots occurred in Los Angeles in August of 1965. They were part of a national uprising of inner city African Americans that occurred in the mid to late 1960's leading to new civil rights legislation. This wire photo collection (67) chronicles the story of the six day melee. News service photos are mostly 8" x 10" in size and range in condition from VG-NRMT. As a result of the riots, 34 people were officially reported killed, 1,032 people were injured, and 4,000 people were arrested.
