1969-70 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Trophy (13”)
Though just 22, the legend of Bobby Orr was cemented when he put the finishing touch on Boston's first Stanley Cup in 29 years. Early in overtime of today's Game 4 in Boston, the nonpareil defenseman outraced the Blues' Larry Keenan to a loose puck, passed to Sanderson in the corner, then dashed towards the crease. Sanderson waited just long enough before sliding the puck back to Orr -- who slid the gamer past goalie Glenn Hall just before being sent flying, courtesy of a full-fledged leg trip by Noel Picard. The dramatic of an airborne Orr is perhaps hockey's most famous freeze-frames. This towering trophy, presetned by the NHL to Bruines Junior V.P. Charles Mulcahy lists the entire roster in the silver plate, including Orr, Phil Esposito, Gerry Cheevers, Sanderson, Johnny Bucyk, etc. This example is certainly vintage and has aged with a wonderful patina. Manufactured by Petersen with their stamp near the green-felt-covered base. LOA from the family of Charles Mulcahy.
