Maurice Richard’s 1944 Montreal Canadiens First Stanley Cup Trophy

Maurice Richard’s 1944 Montreal Canadiens First Stanley Cup Trophy

A NHL record of 12 goals over nine playoff games was set by Maurice Richard as his Habs steam-rolled over the opposition and on to Stanley Cup glory in 1944. This championship, the first of many for the Rocket, was commemorated by the presentation of a solid silver serving plate to each member of the victorious Montreal Canadiens. Measuring ten inches across, this treasured tray is inscribed “National Hockey League Champions and Stanley Cup Winners, Season 1943-44, Club de Hockey Canadien, Inc., Maurice Richard”. In Sterling silver with hallmarks on the verso. Maurice Richard held the Cup high over his head on many occasions, but the first must have been the sweetest.
