1973 John Cappelletti Walter Camp Award with Newspaper Article Provenance
1973 John Cappelletti Walter Camp award. Cappelletti also won the Heisman Trophy and the Maxwell Award in 1973. He later played in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams and the San Diego Chargers. His coach at Penn State, Joe Paterno, called Cappelletti, "The best football player I ever coached. "One panel on the award reads, "Walter Camp Father of the Great American Game of Football. April 17, 1859 - March 14, 1925." The other panel reads, "The Walter Camp Football Foundation Presents the Walter Camp Award to John Cappelletti Pennsylvania State University Selected as the outstanding college football player in the United States in the year 1973. January 14, 1974." Cappelletti's caring relationship with his younger brother, who was suffering with leukemia while John Cappelletti played in college, was made into a book and subsequent made-for TV movie. Comes with newspaper article photo of Cappelletti receiving it. <span style="font-size: 13px;">Measures 10x13". </span>Excellent condition.
