1974 Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman Serigraph by LeRoy Neiman

1974 Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman Serigraph by LeRoy Neiman

Muhammad Ali fought George Foreman on October 30, 1974 in Kinshasa, Zaire. Given little chance, Ali knocked Foreman out in the 8th round to win the World Heavyweight Title for the second time. Ali employed a "rope-a-dope" strategy of covering up on the ropes and letting Foreman hit him until he tired. The strategy worked as an exhausted Foreman could not rise after being hit and knocked down in the 8th round. This celebrated and much anticipated fight was brought to life on canvas by the notable American artist LeRoy Neiman. Neiman made a wonderful painting of the two fighters which adorned the cover of one of the programs used to promote the fight and one of the posters as well. Offered here is a very scarce early serigraph which captures all the beauty of the original painting. It is vintage to 1974. This serigraph measures 25 x 33 ?” and has been signed at the bottom, To My Good Friend Jim Jacobs LeRoy Neiman. This seldom seen piece was probably used by the artist as a gift to special friends. This is the first we have seen and know of only one other. This limited edition has very minor scratches and several minor chips, none of which take away from the beauty of the piece.
