1974 WHA Houston Aeros Avco Cup Championship Ring

Salesman Sample ring manufactured by the Star Ring Company (of Texas) who won the contract to supply the Houston Aeros with their championship rings in 1974. This ring was obtained directly from a retired Star salesman and contains the proper markings. Prior to the 1973-1974 season, the Aeros lured Gordie Howe out of retirement to play alongside his sons Mark and Marty. Gordie Howe scored 100 points during the regular season (31 goals, 69 assists) and was voted the league MVP. Mark Howe was the Rookie of the Year. The Aeros beat the Chicago Cougars 4-0 in the finals to capture their first of two Avco World Trophies. The table of the ring has the team logo between three large CZ stones with "World Hockey Association". One shank has the image of the Avco Cup while the other shows a player with "74 Champs" and "SAMPLE". Sample numbers are engraved insde the band. Size 10, weighs 21 grams. The ring is made of byrilium, a silver based metal that looks like white gold and as the player's ring were done in white gold, this real sample is a dead ringer! In near mint condition.
