1978 Bobby Hull WHA Winnipeg Jets Game Worn Jersey
Awesome Winnipeg Jets jersey worn by The Golden Jet in 1977-78, a particularly valuable Hull item given that he scored his 1,000th career goal that season -- the final WHA season before the league merged with the NHL, an event that for Hull was a personal vindication. Only 7 years before, when he jumped the Blackhawks to take a then-record million-dollar contract with the fledgling Jets in '72, many believed the new league would never make it and that Hull would have to come crawling back on his knees to the NHL. Instead, he came back triumphant, making the senior league eat crow having put the WHA on the map and winning 2 straight WHA titles and 3 in the circuit's last 4 years. Hull actually racked up some of his finest years in Manitoba, where he anchored arguably the best line ever put on ice with Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson and scored an astonishing 77 goals in '74-75 (a new record for a pro league). He would play 4 games with the Jets in '79-80 before being injured and was then traded in November to the Harford Whalers. Front of the white nylon mesh jersey has the Jets' logo screened in blue, red and white, while the back has "Hull" screened on a cotton panel in blue. His famous number "9" is in blue on red tackle twill on back and both sleeves. Blue and red piping around neck, sleeve and waist. Slightly tattered "Harv-Al Knit" tag is in back of collar with size "L" tag beneath. Nice use with stick and board marks. Shoe string fight strap!! Though Hull's Blackhawk jerseys are classic, we bet this one would mean just as much if not more to him.
