1980 United States Hockey Team Signed Poster Including Herb Brooks
A vintage signed limited edition poster commemorating the 1980 United States hockey team. During the iciest period of the Cold War, the underdog US team faced off against the heavily favored Soviets at the Winter Olympics. The Soviet team had blasted through its’ opponents in the qualifying rounds with devastating wins against Japan 16-0, Netherlands 17-4 and Poland 8-1, even humiliating the US Team in an exhibition match with a 10-3 defeat. Somehow, through what’s remembered as “The Miracle On Ice” the group of US collegians and amateurs managed to stifle the Soviet super team and emerge victorious with four goals to three. The team went on to defeat Finland 4-2 and earn the Olympic Gold. This poster, titled “Remember the Moment,” is a pen and ink style montage of the most famous images from this victory. The stark black and white drawings are surrounded by the signatures of the entire team including coach Herb Brooks, with team captain Mike Eruzione’s right in the middle. All signatures are in ball point pen and rate 9-10 on a scale of 10. The poster itself is framed and its’ condition is EX-MT.
