1984 Los Angeles Olympics USA Basketball Gold Medal Presented to Teresa Edwards

Voted one of the "100 Greatest Female Athletes of the 20th Century," Teresa Edwards earned this very Gold Medal for basketball at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Edwards was part of the Team USA squad that dominated the field, making her the youngest Gold Medalist in women's basketball history. She went on to become the first female basketball player to appear in five Olympics, and has won the most medals in hoops history - both men and women - with four golds and one bronze. Not only is she in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, but her 2011 induction made her one of only 18 women players in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, with fellow inductees that year including the likes of Dennis Rodman, Chris Mullin, and Artis Gilmore. The medal itself, measuring just under 2.5" in diameter, is gilt silver with the front reading "XXIII Olympiad, Los Angeles, 1984" and the edge of the ring engraved with "Basketball Women." The pink, yellow, and blue ribbon has been shortened to fit around her neck, and it comes in its Olympic Medal cherrywood display box, with American flag and Olympic rings logo atop. Along with legendary teammate Cheryl Miller, Teresa Edwards led the way as the '84 US team steamrolled a field that was without the Soviet Union squad, which infamously boycotted those games.

Addendum: The display box has been deemed not period to the medal
