1986 Jim Jacobs Boxing Manager of the Year Award and Cus D'Amato Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Medal (2)
Jimmy Jacobs was the co-manager of Mike Tyson. Along with Bill Cayton he guided the early professional career of Tyson, leading him to the heavyweight championship in 1986 with a win over Trevor Berbick. Jacobs was awarded the prestigious Al Buck Memorial Award by the Boxing Writers Association of America as Manager of the Year for 1986. Presented here is the beautiful silver ice bucket given to Jim Jacobs. This award is 7” high and is inscribed, “BOXING WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA JIM JACOBS AL BUCK MEMORIAL AWARD MANAGER-TRAINER OF THE YEAR 1986” In fine condition featuring lion head handles on each side. Cus D’Amato was the trainer who handled the careers of Jose Torres, Floyd Patterson and the early career of Mike Tyson. D’Amato was recognized for his life’s work by the World Boxing Hall of Fame who awarded him the medal offered here. The medal is 2 ?” in diameter and includes the original red, white and blue cloth sash.
