1995-1996 Mario Lemieux Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey

1995-1996 Mario Lemieux Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey

Mario Lemieux’s first act, a show of iron will, genius and playmaking, proved him one of the greatest NHL players of all time. This quality is ingrained in this game-worn jersey’s stitching, as it was Le Magnifique’s 1995-1996 comeback season that this black, yellow and white Penguins jersey was exhibited. After battling cancer during his 1992-1993 season, he returned to play before the end of the regular season with an unprecedented rush of scoring that led his Pens to the Wales Conference Finals and won himself his fourth Art Ross Trophy. Lemieux prematurely left his follow-up season and took a year and half off. With rumors of retirement, Super Mario dispelled all talk and came back for this 1995-1996 season, garnering a fifth Art Ross Trophy, a third Hart Trophy and a Penguins run for the Wales Conference title. He would retire after the next season, 1996-1997 and a sixth scoring title. Showing nice use, its dominant white is branded with stick marks. Boasts a tackle twill Captain’s “C” on left breast and same-styled “Lemieux” on back nameplate, with his “66” below. “CCM” embroidered next to “NHL” shield on tail, and in collar “CCM” tag is sharpied in black “66 C 95-96” along with size 56 flag tag. SUPER!
