1999 Wayne Gretzky NY Rangers Last Game Used Stick
On April 18th, 1999, the greatest player in the game of hockey took to the ice for the last time. Those in attendance at Madison Square Garden for Wayne Gretzky's Final Farewell bore witness to the closing of a chapter in hockey history. Dark blue Hespeler CS Pro Graphite model gamer used by in his last game in the NHL. Rangers equipment man Mike Folga marked and stamped each stick used by Wayne for his final game. This stick has "1487" marked on the butt end (total career games) and a "WG" brand burnt into the blade. Signed just above the blade tape in blue Sharpie, "Wayne Gretzky 99, 4/18/99". According to Folga, Wayne wanted to be certain his teammates, friends and family would receive a stick used in the final game and each one was marked with the name of the intended recipient. This example has "Folga" marked on the shaft in silver paint pen. Taped in black bulldog on the blade with custom shaved blue foam Gripper handle. Displays light but obvious use. Letter of Authenticity signed by former New York Rangers equipment manager Mike Folga.
