1st News Service Photo Collection Including 1939 HOF Induction

Group of (11) vintage 1930's 1st News Service photos were once displayed in store windows to advertise the day's headlines. Each measure approximately 16x13" and includes a classic photo at the opening of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939 featuring (10) of the greatest baseball players of all time including Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker, Honus Wagner, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Nap Lajoie, Dick Sisler, Walter Johnson, Cy Young and Connie Mack with an inset photo of Ty Cobb who arrived too late to be in the group picture. Others include Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in Japan, Tris Speaker and Will Rogers watching a game, a young Joe DiMaggio, Connie Mack, John McGraw, Charlie Gehringer, Ducky Medwick, Carl Hubbell, Bob Feller and other baseball greats. Also includes a great photo of President Franklin D. Roosevelt throwing out the first ball in Washington, DC. Most of these beautiful photos have their original captions. Average condition is EX+.
