2001 New Jersey Devils Prince of Wales Trophy
Having metamorphosized its exact meaning several times over the last 80 years, The Prince of Wales trophy is at present the silver cupped trophy presented to the winner of the Eastern Conference playoff champions, and the New Jersey Devils have claimed this decoration four times over, this trophy offered here being the third time from their 2000-01 season, after which the Devils went on to lose to the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Devils had won the Stanley Cup the year before, and would win again two seasons later. A fine trophy in the shape of a cup rising from a wood base with a placard that reads, “H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy.” On the back is another silver plate on which is engraved, “NHL Champions, New Jersey Devils, 2000-01’’. Trophy is in fine, EX condition, measures 13”, and includes a decorative and removable top to the cup. Also includes LOA from Devils’ employee it was presented to (name on request).
