2004 Bob Gibson Presentational New Cardinals Ballpark Groundbreaking Shovel

2004 Bob Gibson Presentational New Cardinals Ballpark Groundbreaking Shovel

In 2006, the St. Louis Cardinals opened up their new Busch Stadium and celebrated its inaugural season with a World Series championship. More than two years prior to that, ground was broken for the ballpark on January 17, 2004, and this commemorative shovel was gifted to longtime franchise ace Bob Gibson during the ceremony. Its distinctive handle is the barrel of a Louisville Slugger bat, and it is signed by Gibson in 8/10 blue Sharpie. The engraving on the Union Tools Razor-Back shovel head reads: "ST. LOUIS CARDINALS BALLPARK GROUNDBREAKING JANUARY 2004." There are a few minor scuff marks but otherwise is in EX condition.
