9/1/29 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Multi-Signed Baseball - Ruth 40th HR Day (PSA)

Presented is a Babe Ruth/Lou Gehrig multi-signed baseball that provides plenty of power. The ball is dated from September 1, 1929, a day the Yankees defeated the home team Boston Red Sox, 6-4. Hall of Famer Ruth hit his 40th homer of the season with no one on that day, and another player who signed the ball, New York Yankee second baseman Hall of Famer Tony Lazzeri, hit two home runs that day. The third Yankee who signed the ball, HOF first baseman Lou Gehrig, did not homer that day, but he hit 35 homers for the season, while Ruth blasted 46 that year and Lazzeri had 18. The fourth signature on the ball is from Wally Berger. Berger must have signed the ball at a later date because he played in the National League for the Boston Braves, starting in 1930. Berger hit .300 lifetime with 242 home runs. Lazzeri hit .292 lifetime, with 178 homers. Ruth hit .342 for his career with 714 homers, ad Gehrig hit .340 lifetime, with 493 home runs. In addition to their high averages, these four men represent 1,627 home runs. Ruth signed on the sweet spot; his signature is significantly faded, but still legible. The signatures of Berger and Lazzeri are also faded, but still legible. Gehrig's signature is clearly inscribed and shows little fading. The New York Club ball exhibits darkening and toning. and shows scuff marks, and a number of losses of leather on the cover. The overall condition of the ball is Very Good. The signatures average 5/10. Although the signed baseball shows age, it does contain the signatures of an excellent hitter in Berger, a Hall of famer in Lazzeri, and all-time icons Ruth and Gehrig. PSA LOA.
