They are a blur when he swings but Alfonso Soriano's batting gloves look sleek when they are on display -- all eight pairs of them with six wrist bands to boot. The Nike gloves range in wear from "I won't take these off during my hitting streak until the fingers fall off" to "Hey, I can use this pair to drive my car." Black leather with checkered eggshell nylon streaks and Nike swoosh go way beyond Isotoners. Black label with "AS12" is stitched onto the Velcro wrist with "DRI-FIT" on the strap. Suede finger fronts have soft nubs, some worn down completely by the free-swinging Soriano. The blue wrist bands are embroided with "12" and the Nike swoosh. Soriano makes the game look effortless at times, but he puts in plenty of sweat.
