Alonzo Stagg Grand Old Man Cast Iron Bookends
Alonzo Stagg was the first to use tackling dummies, put a man in motion, and number plays. One of these 1930’s bookends is stamped with "1" just under the label. The other bookend is stamped with "2" on the back. The label states that Stagg would not take any profits from the sale of these cast iron bookends, and that "a percentage of the receipts from their sale be given to the Governor's Commission for Unemployment and Relief." Under this is printed, "The Western Foundry Co. Chicago". The bottom of each bookend is stamped with, "The Western Foundry Co."
