Amazingly Complete PX7 Domino Discs Set including Rare Variations (259)
Fresh to the market collection from a hobby "old timer" these marvelous Domino Discs are as complete as you can get. There are 129 different major leaguers featured in the set. This collection has a total of 259 discs representing all 129 players. Domino Discs were distributed by Sweet Caporal Cigarettes from 1909-1912 and are considered by many to be one of the most unique 20th century tobacco issues. Domino Discs got their name because each disc has a large white domino printed on the back; each measures 1-1/8" in diameter and is made of thin cardboard surrounded by a metal rim. Each player can be found with two picture variations involving uniform or cap details or just the size of the portrait. Additionally, the background could be either red, green or blue, allowing for the player variation to number in thousands. The offered group is nearly 2 full set variations. Highlights include Baker (2), Bender (2), Bresnahan (1), Brown (2), Chance (1), Cicotte (1), Clarke (2), Cobb VG-EX (green background no "D" on cap) and Cobb VG-EX (red background "D" on cap), Collins (2), Evers (2), Griffith (2), Huggins (2), Jennings (2), Johnson VG-EX (2), Lajoie (1), Mathewson VG-EX (2), McGraw (1), Tinker (2), Wallace (2), Walsh (2), Wheat (1), Young (2) both are VG. Also included is the rare Home Team/Visiting Team Disc EX. Please note there are up to 4 different discs of some players. Commons missing without a pair are, Dahlen, Engle, Mattern, Mcintire, Miller, Mitchell, Murphy, Thomas, and Wagner. Missing are a total of 17 discs, which would constitute 2 full sets of different discs for each player. The condition breakdown of the collection is 15% EX-MT, 25% EX, 40% VG-EX, and 20% lesser.
