Aviator Charles Lindbergh Photographs (47)

Aviator Charles Lindbergh Photographs (47)

Collection of Charles Lindbergh wire photographs (47) spanning the life of one of America's most famous men. Photos range in size from 4" x 6" to 8 1/2" x 11". Conditions range from GD-EX. One AP wire photo from 1949 shows Lindbergh holding the Wright Brothers Memorial trophy, depicting the Kitty Hawk plane, which he was awarded by the National Aeronautic Association. Another photo from 1936 shows Lindbergh standing with King Edward VIII. There are several of him testifying before congressional committees in 1939 pleading his case for why America should stay out of "Europe's War". The later years of his life are represented by a wire photo taken in 1970 telling of Lindbergh's warning that our civilization could be destroyed if we do not learn to "control the fantastic forces of the various technologies our scientific knowledge has released."
