Babe Ruth Autographed Baseball
A vintage ball of such pedigree is a most special find. From the very personal collection of Matty Martin, this recently uncovered material is among the freshest Babe Ruth memorabilia yet to hit the market. OAL (Harridge) ball with the stampings lightly faded but still legible is simply spectacular with a large black ink inscription and signature from the Babe. Covering two panels and the sweet spot it reads, “To Matty Martin from Babe Ruth - Dec. 25th, 1937.” A rare inscription and signature with the exact date from the greatest sports hero of all time, large and bold with minimal fading. The ball’s surface boasts a darkened patina from nearly 7 decades of aging, and may have been “rubbed up” with dirt long ago. The inscription and signature are lightly shellacked (shellacking also vintage) although a couple blemishes are visible on either side of the inscription. Ink grades a “7” out of a possible 10.
