Babe Ruth Home Run Special Baseball w/Original Box

Babe Ruth Home Run Special Baseball w/Original Box

In the 1920s and 1930s, kids looking for a baseball for their local sandlot games were crazy about a "Babe Ruth Home Run Special." The ball came ensconced in a colorful box decorated in the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue - and including a black and white photo of Babe Ruth on one of the sides. The original box is included, including the detached cover flap. On the side of the ball is printed "Horse Hide Cover" along with the Reach trademark. On the sweet spot is printed a simulated Babe Ruth autograph that resembles a signature signed with a blue fountain pen. The ball has the red and blue stitches commonly used on an American League Official baseball until 1934. These Base Ruth Specials were very popular at the time of Ruth's peak years, and taken together, the ball and its thin cardboard box combine to make a valued keepsake of a bygone era.
