Vintage glass plate negative of Babe Ruth on Lansdowne Street in Boston, next to Fenway Park. He is wearing a New York Yankee road uniform, shaking hands with a golfer, surrounded by dignitaries dressed in suits and top hats. From the looks of it, neither Ruth nor any of the dignitaries are aware of the “curse” bestowed upon the storied Boston Red Sox franchise, which endures to this day. Photo was taken circa 1930. Gelatin dry glass plate negative is a scarce treasure in the realm of photography. These were used by photographers from the 1880’s to the 1920’s, and are superior in detail and contrast to any previous process. Highly desirable and quite hard to find. Measures 4x5” in Excellent condition. The glass plate is impervious to most humidity or temperature changes. Comes with a printed photo made from the original.
