Babe Ruth Photo With Arms Folded

Babe Ruth Photo With Arms Folded

Out of this world original wire service shot of the Babe dated 4/25/21. The theme of Ruth as the center of the baseball universe is obvious in the photo, in which the stocky but still reasonably svelte Babe stands casually and cocksure, his arms folded over his gut and seemingly bemused as he gazes over the field. Behind him, a packed grandstand at the Polo Grounds seems to only have eyes for the magnificent beast who was acquired from the Red Sox for an astronomical $125,000 the year before and paid off with an unimaginable 54 homers – more than every other team -- while hitting .376. Within 2 years, he’d be on display in the house he “built”. 7 x 9” photo has an “Underwood & Underwood” stamping on back with an attached caption reading: “Five: Babe Ruth Hits His Fifth Homer of the Season” and telling of him going deep against “one of Walter Johnson’s famous speed balls.” VG-EX w/light damage on upper corners, a tiny tip in the left border and the top border cut off. Babe image is blessedly unflawed.
