Babe Ruth Signed Napkin

Babe Ruth Signed Napkin

The Babe's popularity didn't decline a bit after his playing days were over, and he seemed to know his autograph was like an elixir to whoever spotted him while out on the town. Thus, one can imagine the thrill of a lifetime one lucky bystander got upon seeing Ruth in a New York restaurant during the summer of '42 and, even better, getting him to sign a piece of goods very dear to the Babe's heart -- or rather, ferociously-chewing choppers: this embroidered cloth napkin that is inscribed "Babe Ruth Aug. 20-1942" in black pen. The signature is EX-MT to NRMT and the large letters and the date, combined with the novelty of the napkin as a venue for the autograph, makes this quite the display item, though preferably not on an active dining room table with spaghetti nearby. Napkin itself is VG with some light snagging and areas of food oiling that only help to further define it as Ruthian. LOA from the son of the man who obtained the signature.
