Babe Ruth Signed Portrait Photo (7.5x9.5”)
One of the most exceptional close-ups of Babe Ruth extant, this one boasts such great contrast that you can actually see every pore and wrinkle in his complexion. The Babe dressed in Yankee pinstripes and cap looks pensively into the distance. The inscription and signature make this one all the more special: “To My Friend Matthew John Buquy From Babe Ruth.” The black fountain pen inscription and signature are in Excellent condition, grading an “8.5” out of a possible 10. The only flaw is that the vintage ink has been changed by light exposure to a brown color. Photo itself is EX+, printed on a nice, thick stock and stamped on the verso, “Photographed by Hal McAlpin.”
