Babe Ruth's Baseball Game by Milton Bradley

Babe Ruth's Baseball Game by Milton Bradley

Babe Ruth's Baseball Game housed in its original box. Issued in 1936 by Milton Bradley, one year after Ruth's retirement, the colorful box cover pictures a photo of Ruth alongside an illustrated baseball scene. The interior contents consist of a large illustrated game board, eighty-six "action" cards that determine the result of each at bat, and eight circular wooden "men" that serve as markers for the baserunners. The playing directions are printed on the underside of the box cover. We are not sure how many wooden markers were originally issued with the game, but the directions make note of "85" cards, so this example includes one extra. The game board (9.75x16.25"), cards, and wooden markers all display wear commensurate with its age and former use, and remain in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. The box cover (19.25x10") is missing all four side flaps, and both cover and base display heavy wear, including tape repair, creasing, small tears, and a marker notation on one side panel of the base. In Fair condition overall, but the cover graphics remain bright and attractive. This is the classic Ruth board game from the era and one that has always been a favorite among collectors.
