be Ruth Handwriting Cut (PSA)

be Ruth Handwriting Cut (PSA)

Displayed is a handwriting cut of the immortal "Sultan of Swat," Babe Ruth. The Bambino was larger than life. In fact, the term "Ruthian" is popularly used even today to describe an event - in or out of baseball - that seems to be enormous, out of the realm of normal achievement. Ruth was a terrific pitcher who had a lifetime record of 94-46, with a lifetime ERA of 2.28, and an American League leading 1.75 in 1916. Most of Ruth's great pitching occurred before he became a slugger who revolutionized baseball, making home runs a big part of the game. Ruth finished his career with 714 home runs, by far the highest home run total when he retired. But Ruth had another great skill - from his days in residence at St, Mary's Industrial School for Boys in Baltimore, the Babe learned to write with beautiful handwriting. A natural left-hander who threw and batted left-handed, Ruth, as was a popular custom of the time, was taught in school to write right-handed. Not only did Ruth learn to write with his right hand, but he learned so well that he developed model penmanship. The presented cut handwriting is on an approx. 0.75x2" piece of paper or light card stock that has been cut from a baby journal. At the top of the cut is part of a professionally printed word "Baby's J[ournal]." Ruth has written "To Wilbur" in blue ink from a fountain pen. As can be expected, Ruth's handwriting is exemplary. The handwriting cut has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC. What could be more wonderfully ironic than to possess, and display, a Babe Ruth handwriting cut on which the Babe has signed on a "Baby Journal"?
