An eclectic and interesting document and photo collection from the Billie Holiday estate consists of: 1. A handwritten receipt reads “Paid in full for 1 Week and 3 days $105 Billie Holiday…” in blue ball point. Receipt is on a piece of lined yellow paper, is torn on two sides like it was hastily prepared. 2. Six photographs, four are vintage two are later prints. Most notable are an early 1930s photograph of a very young nymph-like Billie and a silver gelatin performance photo from the early 1940s, and one of her performing with Louis Armstrong her self-proclaimed idol. 3. Five letters on “Associated Booking Corp.” letterhead to Billie Holiday, or her husband Louis McKay, for the period of 1952 from 1956 regarding concerts, fees, repertoire and itinerary.4. Handwritten “Blue Moon” musical arrangement for a performance of Billie Holiday.5. A typed set list titled “Repertoire for Billie Holiday”. 6. A typed itinerary of performances for 1958. 7. A scandalous typed letter regarding Billie and her husband Louis McKay’s behavior right before her death. 8. Letters and legal documents and claims against the Billie Holiday estate approximately 12 in all.9.Financial documents from her agent for 1958 and 1959.
