Bobby Hull's 1971-1972 Record Fifth 50th Goal Puck
As the 1971-72 NHL season headed into its final night of action on Sunday, April 2nd, Bobby Hull needed two goals to reach the magic mark of 50 for the fifth time, a new NHL record. The Red Wings were in town to take on Chicago and Hull didn’t keep the hometown fans in suspense for long. Bobby opened the scoring at 3:21 of the first period and then potted number 50 at 17:09, putting the Hawks up 3-0 en route to a 6-1 win. The victim this time was rookie Andy Brown with Chico Maki and Keith Magnuson helping out on the historic goal. This Hawks game puck was gilt-coated and had an engraved metal plaque added. The complete statistics and details of the record are engraved on the plate and read, in part "Bobby Hull, NHL Record, Most 50 Goal Seasons, 5th 50th NHL Season Goal". From the personal collection of Bobby Hull with his signed Letter of Authenticity.
